After their controversial critique of contestant Joe Irvine on last night’s live show of the X Factor NZ, MediaWorks executives have announced Willy Moon and Natalia Kills will be leaving the series.

“While the judges on X Factor are expected to provide critiques of performances, we will not tolerate such destructive tirades from any of the judges,” MediaWorks CEO Mark Weldon said in a statement.

“We no longer have confidence that Kills and Moon are the right people to perform the role of The X Factor judges, and they will leave the show, effective immediately.”

Tonight’s live show will continue with judges Stan Walker and Mel Blatt, with two new judges due to be announced before the live show next week.

A few volunteers have already put their hand up for the role, including Auckland singer-songwriter Ginny Blackmore, who tweeted “I’m happy to take the seat. #justsaying” after the live show aired last night.
